Hrithik Roshan is all set to charm the audience with his tribute to the God of dancing – Michael Jackson — in his upcoming movie “Bang Bang”. The makers on Wednesday released the stills of Roshan in MJ look.
In the title track of the film “Bang Bang”, Roshan will be seen recreating the magic of his dance idol, the late King of Pop Jackson. But that’s not all; audience will also get to see Katrina Kaif doing some great moves.
The title track, which will release on Wednesday night, is a complete party number. Roshan and Kaif have shown their sizzling chemistry in the first two songs “Tu Meri” and “Meherbaan”. And looking at the stills from the third song, one can say that the lead couple will set the stage on fire.
In the third song, Roshan will recreate Jackson’s magic but in his own style. Roshan is one of the best dancers in Bollywood and he has previously shown some great moves in the song “Tu Meri”.
“I have idolized Michael Jackson since the time I first moved to a dance beat. I remember learning the moves through play-pause mode for hours. I love his style and energy, so when Bosco and Sid (Siddharth Anand) said ‘Michael Jackson’, at first I thought there’s no way I could match up, but then I reframed that and did it for my love for him in my own style, my own way,” Roshan told Bollywood Hungama.
“Also, where there is love, there is no fear. That made it fun. The Bang Bang title track itself is outstanding which empowered me further. It’s my ode to the inspiration he has been.”
Roshan also added that both he and Kaif have given their 100 percent for this particular song.
“This is an out-an-out dance/party track. It’s high on glamour, scale and Katrina and I have danced our hearts out,” he added.
The song will release on Wednesday night, but the makers have released a 15 second teaser of the song for the audience. Watch the teaser below:
The promo and poster of filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker’s TV show EVEREST was launched on Tuesday. Co-directed by Glenn Baretto and Ankush Mohla, the Star Plus show is about the struggle of a daughter, who in order to gain her father’s acceptance decides to climb the highest mountain of the world – Mount Evere
“I was intrigued by mountaineers and always used to think what they felt after reaching the peak of any mountain. Now, I know it’s the inner satisfaction that they get,” Gowariker, who has written and produced the show, said. “The show is not only about the female protagonist as each and every character has inner conflicts which they will deal with during the journey of our serial,” he added.
Touted as the most ambitious TV project, the show has managed to bring the magic of music maestro AR Rahman, who had composed tracks for the director’s 2008 film Jodhaa Akbar, on television. “Venturing into television was on my mind for a couple of years. Ashutosh came to me with the concept which was so intriguing. It is a very good start for me,” said Rahman at the launch. – See more at: http://www.hindustantimes.com/entertainment/television/first-look-ashutosh-gowariker-s-everest/article1-1265012.aspx#sthash.mozUcBkM.dpuf
The show’s script is penned by Mitali Mahajan. The makers collaborated with Nehru Institute of Mountaineering and shot at the peaks of Uttarakhand and Nepal.
As a token of appreciation, the makers of the show introduced behind the camera people, including costume and photography departments at the show’s promo and poster launch.
The promo portrays a larger than life image of the show with a promise to give television audience cinematic experience. “Our aim was to take cinema at audience’s home,” said Gowariker.
Incheon: The XVII Asian Games are all set to kick-start officially within a couple of days from now. The two-week long multi-sporting event is going to feature almost 10,000 athletes, which is taking place at the South Korean port city Incheon from September 19 to October 4.
Incheon is the third city in South Korea after Seoul (1986) and Busan (2002) to host the Asian Games.
The opening ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on Friday, will feature world-renowned artists like “Gangnam Style” singer PSY and Chinese pianist Lang Lang to name a few.
Though, before the opening ceremony, the football competition had already started on Sunday. Japan, the defending men’s champion, have already posted a victory over Kuwait.
Interestingly, during the Games, North Korean flag can be displayed, as the South Korean government has lifted the ban over the (North Korean) flags for Asian Games venues.
Athletes from all over Asia will compete in 439 events in 36 sports during the Games, which could prove major dress rehearsals for many of them ahead of the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
If China, who have been topping the medal-tally for last many editions, has sent the largest contingent of nearly 900 athletes, then tiny Brunei has the smallest delegation, with just 11 athletes at their disposal.
India, who finished sixth in the last edition at Guangzhou has sent a strong contingent for the XVII Asiad consisting of 516 athletes, who will compete in 28 events.
Will the official slogan of “Diversity Shines Here” we hope the Games will see all the athletes, who are coming from different walks of life, playing with a healthy sporting spirit to make the Asiad a memorable one in every possible sense.

File photo of Vijay Kumar Gavit who quit the NCP to join the BJP today.
Mumbai: Two politicians who are influential, in their respective areas, have jumped from the NCP to the BJP in a span of one week.
Former Maharashtra Medical Education Minister Vijay Kumar Gavit, who was expelled from the NCP, switched parties today. He was welcomed into the BJP by Eknath Khadse, the Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
Mr Gavit’s move comes after his daughter, Heena Gavit took on the Congress’s nine-time MP Manikrao Gavit in its bastion Nandurbar and defeated him.
Two days ago, former Tribal Development Minister Babanrao Pachpute was also welcomed into the party by none other than BJP President Amit Shah who was on a visit to Mumbai to take stock of the preparations for the assembly elections.
But the BJP, which has previously attacked both these politicians and accused them of being corrupt, is now finding ways to defend their entry into the party.
Mr Khadse says, “If there is any evidence against Vijay Kumar Gavit the party will not keep him.”
While Mr Pachpute has been accused of wrongdoing in the Tribal Development Scam where products meant for the welfare of tribals were bought at higher costs, Mr Gavit is facing an enquiry on the orders of the Bombay High Court in connection with the same scam. He is also facing an enquiry by the Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau which was cleared by the Congress-NCP government soon after he left the NCP.
Mr Gavit however defends himself, saying, “The charges against me are politically motivated. Congress does not want me to stay in Nandurbar. People are with us because we will bring development to the area.”
Both Babanrao Pachpute and Vijay Kumar Gavit were ministers in the Congress NCP government just months ago. But in election season the ability to win matters and the BJP is using the Congress-NCP government’s clean chit to these leaders while they were with them to defend their entry as it prepares to fight the Maharashtra polls on the anti-corruption plank.
Toronto: Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi-starrer ‘Tigers’, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) recently, will hit theatres in India in January 2015.
The film, directed by the Oscar-winning Bosnian filmmaker Danis Tanovic, is based on the true story of a salesman, Syed Aamir Raza, with a multinational pharmaceutical firm in Pakistan.
‘Tigers’, which seeks to relay a broader message about the benefits of breastfeeding, delivers a harsh judgement on the practises of MNCs in developing countries like Pakistan.
Tanovic said that the film is likely to be released in India in January next year.
Hashmi, who is making his Hollywood debut with ‘Tigers’, said the film is a brave, new breed of cinema.
“It is a global project with Indian and foreign cast and crew, directed by a Bosnian, set in Pakistan, and filmed in four countries including Patiala in India,” the 35-year-old actor said.
Emraan’s character in the film Tigers is called Ayan, and he features with a principal cast including names like Geetanjali Thapa, Danny Huston, Khalid Abdalla, Adil Hussain, Maryam D’Abo, Satyadeep Misra, Heino Ferch, Sam Reid, Supriya Pathak and Vinod Nagpal. The producers involved in the project are Anurag Kashyap, Guneet Monga, Prashita Chaudhary, Kshitij Chaudhary, Cedomir Kolar, Marc Baschet, Andy Paterson and Cat Villiers, while Prerna Saigal has edited it.
Twenty six-year-old Mahitha Mohan has been on the international circuit for over six years and it is obvious that the women’s track cycling squad follows its ‘didi’ around the Indira Gandhi hostel and complex.
But once the group reaches the Velodrome and puts on their racing gear, 19-year-old Deborah, participating only in her third major senior international event takes charge as the de-facto leader.
After all, it is the prowess of this 19-year-old from the Car Nicobar that has given the contingent an outside hope of at least challenging for a bronze medal at the Asian Games in Incheon.
The last time an Indian stood on the podium in a cycling event at the Asian Games was way back in 1951. It was the first edition of the Games where only four nations participated in the cycling event and India managed to win a silver and two bronze medals.
Since then, Indians, it seems, have pedalled at Asiads only to make up the numbers. Even today, despite having improved considerably, they refuse to set the bar higher. A top-6 finish is the team’s target in South Korea.
“Finishing in the top-6 will be a great achievement for us given the fact that we started working on the lines of major international teams for just a year now and have been holding year-long camps. The only hope for a medal can be from Deborah,” says chief coach Rajendra Kumar Sharma, who quit the Air Force last year to complete a UCI diploma and join the national squad.
With her pet 500m sprint event, in which she broke the national mark at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, not part of the Asian Games roaster, Deborah is targeting the keirin, a form of motor-paced cycling event for a medal. “I think I can win a medal in keirin,” says the girl, who a decade ago spent few nights on a tree to survive the tsunami.
In keirin, the cyclist follow a motorcycle pilot till the speed of the group reaches 45 kms/hour and then dash to the finish line after the bike leaves the track 600/700 meters from the finish on the instruction of the judge.
The glitter in Deborah’s eyes as her coach explains the event shows how much the youngster cherishes the thrill of speeding down to the end. It was precisely this obsession with speed that first got her hooked to athletics and then to cycling.
“I used to participate in running and long jump in Nicobar and won every local event. But I soon got bored and decided to travel to Andaman with other cyclists to participate in a competition with a regular cycle because the team was a participant short. I won that event and was selected for further training in the SAI centre, in Andaman,” she says reminiscing of a journey that took almost 24 hours by ship.
“I removed the mud-guard of my cycle and raced,” says a smiling Deborah, who is the only player from Andaman and Nicobar to be picked for the Asian Games. “There were 12 girls who joined the academy with me. But all of them got married and left cycling.”
A medal in the Asian Games will definitely change the way people in Andaman and Nicobar and the rest of India perceive cycling as a sport.
MINMargarita, with a Straw directed by Shonali Bose won the NETPAC award for Best Asian Film at the 39th Toronto International Film Festival which wrapped up on Sunday.
The NETPAC Jury comprising Lekha Shankar (India), Hannah Fisher (China) and Anderson Le (Hawaii) remarked, “Margarita, with a Straw is both universal and groundbreaking. Director Shonali Bose and actress Kalki Koechlin have jointly created a character and a world that embody a love letter to life, with all its highs and lows, in spite of overwhelming physical limitations.”
Margarita, with a Straw is scheduled for an early 2015 release in India.
The film revolves around Laila (Kalki Koechlin), a young romantic and a secret rebel in a wheelchair. Undeterred by cerebral palsy, she embarks on exhilarating adventures of self discovery, which cause a rift both within and with those she is closest to. Ultimately, it is in the intensity of these bonds where she must find the strength to truly be herself.
Anup Singh’s Qissa had won the NETPAC award last year.

Kolkata: In a shocking incident from Kolkata, a woman claimed that she was denied entry into a restaurant for being a rape survivor.
The woman alleged that the management of a south Kolkata restaurant turned her out because she was raped. She claimed that the management told her they had orders not to let her inside.
An FIR has been filed in the case over wrongful restraint and attempt to outrage a woman’s modesty.
The woman said, “I went to the restaurant with my fiance and they refused to let me enter. The bouncer and the manager kept yelling in front of everyone that I was the Park St rape victim. I didn’t know what to do. Nobody came to my aide. I’m really humiliated. I told him I will file a complaint at the police station.
The restaurant has refuted the woman’s claims.
The woman was allegedly raped at gun-point inside a moving car in Kolkata’s popular Park Street area and was later thrown out of the car. The incident took place in 2011.
