Soon after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) released its manifesto, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today filed a complaint with the Election Commission against party leader Kumar Vishwas for making a ‘derogatory remark’ against its chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi.

However, Kumar Vishwas denied making any sexist remark. “Let BJP prove that I made any such remark,” he was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying.
At a rally in Delhi, Vishwas had said, “Two problems BJP has with Arvind Kejriwal. One is that he wears a muffler… has he snatched from you and worn? One of them says he coughs a lot….. what is your problem? Do you have to sleep with him in his bedroom or what?”

Vishwas shared a video of the rally and said that he made no statement on Kiran Bedi.

Apart from the complaint to the Election Commission, Kiran Bedi tweeted that she had filed a police complaint against Vishwas for the ‘sexist’ comments.

The BJP’s chief ministerial candidate also condemned the AAP’s ‘derogatory sexist remarks and illegal photo shopped images’ as unethical, toxic and perverse and said the party can’t talk about women safety after such remarks.

What kind of security and dignity can women expect from AAP’s leadership that itself has blatant sexist and perverse mindsets? (3/3)

Meanwhile, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain also called AAP ‘anti-women’ and said that the party will file an FIR against AAP.

Bedi had earlier sent a legal notice to her rival Arvind Kejriwal for using her images in AAP’s posters without her permission.

Elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will take place on February 7, with the counting of the votes set for February 10. The last day of campaigning for the polls is February 5.
